for such a large company I cannot believe I can only return items via UPS...you forget some of us live in rural areas where we have no UPS pickup stations and have to drive a distance to have access to one. very poor customer service.

I ordered my husband 4 packs of Stafford briefs size large too big so we took them to the Bridgeport WV store where a very rude clerk told us we could not exchange the.. Now tell me I have to spend more money to return them because I can exchange your own brand of clothing in your store!!!!!

I bought 4 bras on-line. Two of them were the wrong size, One of them was obviously returned by someone else because the package was taped shut and the bra was just stuffed in there. Since I was not happy with 75% of the order, I returned everything. Drove to a local store to return. I definitely would have been even more upset to incur any shipping costs to return. Definitely will never order anything again from JCP online.
My daughter bought 2 t-shirts on sale with her babysitting money. Paid cash and then couldn't find the receipt after deciding they were too long. I took them back with the tags and stickers all over them to get them in a larger size for my other daughter. Penney's would not let us exchange them for a different size even tho they were clearly never worn. It was ridiculous and the manager was snippy and kind of a jerk. I told him that I have shopped at Penny's my entire life and go out of my way to shop there because I have always loved Penny's and don't want to see them go out of business. But after this experience I would never set foot in that store again. I was not disrespectful but he was not very nice. I felt that JC Penney couldn't care less about me as a customer. So now I will dance on their grave when they go out of business. Which they will soon because that store is always empty.
Ordered several items and received items other than what I ordered. Not sure who fills these orders but they do a terrible job. Will be returning everything once I can find out the info to make the return. Will not be ordering from JCP again on line. Not the first time I received the incorrect item or the incorrect size.
If I buy anything on my debit card that's cash in my bank I pay for. If I have to return the Item clothing or whatever I paid for it I should be able to get my money back on my debit card I'd say immediately but I can wait I guess 3 hours to 4 or at least by the end of the business day! No excuses it my money there should be no waiting days . I totally disagree! . Not happy I keep forgetting. It's easier to use my debit card cause I not like carrying cash on me. That's why . As a matter of fact they should give me cash back seeing how it still cash they get from my debit card!

JCP returns used to be unlimited. Now, they've gone to 60 days, which is one of the shortest in the industry. I've started shopping elsewhere. Return policies should be at least 90 days. 60 is absurd. If I buy something in March, I won't be able to wear it until May because it's too cold here. If I wait until May to buy summer stuff, it's all sold out in my size. Too much of a bother to shop there at all!

I have never in my life dealt with such a horrific webpage as this. Not only can you spend hours looking for what you want and get sent to what you don't want, but when you want to return an item that you don't want you can find out what to do. What a mess. It's no wonder no one wants to shop or do business with them. This is coming from not a young person, but someone that has done business with them for some time. What a horror web page.
Somewhat difficult to return items that were ordered online. Also, 2 of my items were too large and one was too small. (The size I needed was not available.) A big disappointment on all three.!

I have been a JCP customer for 35 years. I work full time. My family and I ,like most, have full schedules. I was stopped from ordering on line because of “too many returns “ over the years. Once you find a brand that fits. You order repeatedly, because you don’t have to hassle with “shopping”. I placed an order for Christmas. It was canceled without notice. I thought a glitch. Second time I called. Was told computer glitch. Try in a few days. I did a week later. To be canceled again. This time when called. Was told I returned too many orders over the years/ again,35. Was told to ho to the store. If I wanted to go to the store. Or had the time. I would have. No wonder pennys filed bankruptcy.

Want to exchange a pair of leggings I got online. The instructions made no sense to me. I could not print a label and I can not get clear answers, I will keep item bot will NEVER buy clothes her again,
The store in Lawrenceville, NJ would not accept the return of a pair of sweatpants purchased the week before because the label attached to the pants was missing. The brand name appears on the left leg of the pants, and also on a label inside of the pants, so there is no question that they are Champion pants. In addition, the JC Penny website makes no mention of a missing label as a reason to reject a return, and the receipt (shown to the JC Penny employees) proving the return was within 60 days of purchase was presented to the employees . In summary, there was no valid reason not to accept the return. The store's decision not to accept the return was a violation of their own return policy, and brings up the question of why the return was rejected. The customer service representative would not explain why the return would not be accepted, so I am asking JC Penny to explain in writing why they will not accept the return. It is very difficult to return an item. No directions for return label, or the order or anything that is helpful. Each time I try to order something, the website switches to Chico. I find this entire process very frustrating.

Been waiting since 2nd week of August for my refund. It's now October! Called 3 times, getting "I'm sorry".. Your check will be mailed out in 5-10 days. Two months is a lot longer than 5-10 days. No more shopping at JCPenney and I strongly suggest the same.
I’m terribly disappointed with the return policy. I was 1 day late of the 60-day time limit and a regular customer with full payment of my bill upon receipt. As an outstanding customer, I think there should be exceptions that a manager can approve. I bought a sheer blouse for a special occasion and lost a few pounds. The blouse now fits too loosely and I’ll not wear it. Additionally, I always begin Xmas shopping early but will no longer buy from Penney’s for the holidays due to the return policy. This is new to me and should be stated clearly on the receipt instead of advising to visit the website for the policy. It used to be more than 60 days and no one knows without clear information on the receipt. I’m done shopping at JCP only because of the return policy.
JCPenny has such poor customer service. No wonder they are not doing well financially. I bought a pair of earrings, fine jewelry and 14k gold. Their return policy states they take returns on fine jewelry but when I go online I am not able to go thru the return process and thus can not get a pre printed return label. I called customer service and they knew NOTHING. I cited the return policy to them. They said I could return it on my own if I wanted to but the only place I was supposed to return jewelry was in a store. HELLO! I ordered fine jewelry online because I live at least 100 miles from the closest JCPenny. So poor, so wrong. JCPenny used to be the best place to shop. NOT ANYMORE. Your terrible to deal with. I have taken pictures of everything, every label, every package, every receipt and have tracking on my return. If I don't get a refund I will be notifying my credit card company. I was treated like garbage by your employees at the Colerain Ave. (Stone Creek town center) in Colerain, Ohio. I wanted to get a store credit for items my daughter got for her birthday that she didn't like or just wasn't her style. Was planning on shopping and getting her something else and also had other things to shop for in the store. I was told if I didn't have a recipt or gift receipt or phone number for whoever bought the items for her that they couldn't do anything for me... tags still on items & never been worn. The people working here were very rude to me and I don't know why. I left and I WILL NEVER shop JC Penney ever again.
I have many people I buy for Christmas gifts, and I love shopping at JCPenney. However, because I shop well early, and well beyond the 60 day return deadline, I cannot shop at your store. One of my all-time favorite places to shop. Kohl's has a 180 day returns, and so now i am buying at the store and shopping on line with Kohl's. Such a shame.

Needless to say, I experienced the most inconvenienced experience I have had to endure with your JCP store personnel here in Del Rio, TX. I ordered 2 sets of curtains that I immediately didn't like the color as I opened the online package delivered by UPS. First, the sales lady said I couldn't return it to the store because it was an online order and delivered to my home via UPS. I didn't challenge her because it only stood to be reasonable. I get to UPS where the clerk advised it would run me $16.17 for the return to which I nearly had a fit since I had already paid $8.95 to have it shipped to my house. So, I walked off as I decided that I would return it to JCP Store. The following day I showed up at 10:40A thinking store would open at 10A. Well NO! they open at 11A, but decided to get off and be the first in line. I knocked on the door only to be told by employee that they still had 10 minuets to go before store opened. You would think that "customer service" would kick in as there weren't any other customers waiting. I talked to the same lady that had originally waited on me and told her that I called your Customer Service toll free line where they advise that I could return it to your store. Already upset from the inconvenience caused, I refused to take my return and let her know that I wanted a refund. Since I paid using my PayPal account I told her that the amount could be credit to my Pay Pal account to which she advised she couldn't do that. At this point, I was totally livid with the whole situation that I am considering never to shop at JCP. You either need to hire competent personnel or have better employee training. My order number was 2023-1936-1582-4444 and PO# 312750562_732. She did refund $36.33 cash minus the Shipping/Handling fee, but I much would have liked my Pay Pal account to have credited. Not good business practice and/or store management as you (or someone did) made a profit of $8.95 that I paid for nothing. I will not recommend shopping and/or returning anything to JCP.

I feel J. C Penny's should allow an option for cash back when paid by debit card as it takes way to long to get it back when waiting up to 10 days to get a refund. As a debit card is just like using cash.
JCPenney used to have a wonderful return policy and I bought most all jewelry and apparel items for myself and gifts for others from there. Unfortunately, since their return policy shortened to 60 days, I buy most items at Kohl's and others whose return policy is much longer. This is especially important for Christmas and birthdays. If I bought gifts now for Christmas from JCPenney, the recipient would not be able to return it after Christmas. I still like JCPenney's products, but it is easier to shop elsewhere. Other stores have already extended their return timeframe for Christmas.
