Lowe's offers a generous 90-day return policy for most items, allowing customers ample time to decide if their purchase meets their needs. This policy applies to new, unused merchandise, and customers are encouraged to keep their receipts for a smooth return process. Items can be returned in-store or via mail, providing flexibility for customers.
However, there are exceptions to this policy. Certain products, such as major appliances, outdoor power equipment, and holiday items, have a shorter return window of 30 days. Additionally, custom and special order items may not be eligible for returns, so it's crucial to review the specific terms at the time of purchase.
One common complaint among customers is the restocking fee that may apply to some returns, particularly for special order items. This fee can be a surprise for those not aware of the policy details. Another pain point is the requirement for a receipt or proof of purchase, which can be problematic if the original receipt is lost.
For online purchases, Lowe's provides a return shipping label, but customers are responsible for the shipping costs unless the return is due to an error on Lowe's part. This can be a deterrent for some, especially if the item is large or heavy.
To initiate a return, customers can visit the Lowe's website and navigate to the returns section, where they can print a return label and find detailed instructions. Alternatively, returns can be processed at any Lowe's store, where staff are available to assist with the process.
Overall, while Lowe's return policy is customer-friendly, understanding the specific terms and conditions is essential to avoid any unexpected issues. Customers are advised to check the return policy for each item at the time of purchase to ensure a hassle-free experience.

The item I ordered on-line was delivered this morning was not the item I expected, and also badly damaged. There is no clear information on how to return this item, which will need to be picked up by Lowe’s. I am now attempting to actually speak with a real person for any help. I have been on hold with central Long Beach Lowe’s for close to one hour. Terrible.
I found a lowes in-store credit card in my wallet, and couldn't use it. I'm certain it was from the stuff I returned after we finished my mother-in-law's condo renovation, however, my license can't unlock it. I recently got a new licence, but they couldn't get it to work with this card. I brought back your merchandise, you accepted it, gave me this card, and now it's worthless. Your process if broken. Neither the store or your customer support line could help me. I feel very cheated right now!!
I will never ever buy anything from Lowe's again and will never ever recommend them to anybody. I've been going round and round with them on an order, which I never received. I have everything documented, have names, dates, transcripts and they won't give me my money back. I made several calls, they're putting you off and off and I have proof I never received the order and they got paid for the shipment. I will not back down and if I have to, I will take them to the small court.
Would not let me return an appliance even though there was something wrong with it.
Returned items that were purchased using my debit card over a month ago they issued my refund in the form of a credit to my debit card, which I am now being told will take anywhere from 3 to 10 business days. However, their website indicates that they will give cash refunds for people that have used debit card or cash and have a receipt. They have tied up almost $600 of my money and say they cannot reverse the transaction and never offered a refund in the form of cash. I have my receipt and it has been over 30 days so has definitely had time to clear my bank. I will not shop this store anymore for my home improvement projects because of them holding up my filings when I need to return something with receipt. Shouldn’t have to wait that long when all other merchant refunds post immediately. This was a roofing job that we bought all supplies from Lowe’s, but their lack of good customer service has us going elsewhere now. Cannot work with a company who doesn’t realize the importance of having our money to keep projects on time and successful.
I bought a refrigerator 3 weeks a go, which has an icemaker that never worked. People came to the house twice, then left. I talked to Lowes online. Then whirlpool, then a store manager, and they all told me, to call each other. Then they said I should bring it back. The store managers name was Troy. I was put on hold six times, for more than an hour. I talked to Troy at the store and he also said. to call whirlpool. This remains unresolved. I had always bought Whirlpool appliances from Sears before with no problems. They either fixed it or replaced it. I will never buy an appliance from Lowes again.
